Two members of the Movimento Brasil Livre (MBL) were arrested on Friday morning (10) in an operation carried out by the Civil Police, State Public Ministry and Federal Revenue.

The Civil Police carried out an operation and arrested two members of the MBL this Friday morning (10), accused of embezzling more than R$400 million from companies. The right-wing movement emerged in 2014 to support the coup against Dilma and supported the election of Jair Bolsonaro in 2018, breaking with him at the end of 2019.

The names of those arrested have not yet been released, but, according to Globo News, they are Alessander Mônaco Ferreira and Carlos Augusto de Moraes Afonso.

The operation was named “Juno Moneta” which refers to the ancient Roman temple where Roman coins were minted.

Six search and seizure warrants and two arrest warrants were served in the city of São Paulo and in Bragança Paulista, in the interior of the state. One of the search warrants was at the MBL headquarters.
