Wanderson de Oliveira, Secretary of Health Surveillance at the Ministry of Health, resigned on Wednesday morning (15).
The information is present in an official note released by the ministry.
Wanderson had been one of the ministry authorities who participated most in press conferences about the spread of the new coronavirus pandemic in Brazil.
Wanderson, like the Minister of Health, Henrique Mandetta, is an advocate of social isolation as a strategy to contain the virus.
According to several media outlets, Mandetta's dismissal from his post by the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, is expected to take place in the coming days.
Also on Wednesday, Wanderson sent a letter to the department's employees, saying that it was “time to say goodbye”.
