Former Minister of Citizenship Osmar Terra is the most likely candidate to take on the role; the military wing advocates a woman for the position.
President Jair Bolsonaro decided to fire Health Minister Luiz Henrique Mandetta this Monday, amid the novel coronavirus crisis. The official act of dismissing Mandetta is being prepared this afternoon at the Planalto Palace. The expectation is that the decision will be published in an extra edition of the Official Gazette of the Union after a meeting between the president and all ministers, including Mandetta, called for 5 pm. The information about Mandetta's dismissal was confirmed to GLOBO by two aides to the president of the Republic.
Federal deputy Osmar Terra (MDB-RS), former Minister of Citizenship, is the most likely candidate to replace him. He had lunch with Bolsonaro and the four ministers who work at the Planalto Palace this Monday: Walter Braga Netto (Chief of Staff), Luiz Eduardo Ramos (Government Secretariat), Jorge Oliveira (General Secretariat) and Augusto Heleno (Institutional Security Office).
