Health Minister Luiz Henrique Mandetta said that Brazil’s purchases of personal protective equipment, such as masks and caps, from China “fell” after the United States purchased a large volume of products. According to Mandetta, the same race for respirators has been occurring. He said that “we took a step back” in the acquisition of these essential items to combat Covid-19.
This week, planes packed with personal protective equipment and rapid tests arrived. But the minister made it clear that it will be much harder for the respirators to reach Brazil.
The Northeastern states purchased a shipment of Chinese artificial respirators. However, the 600 units of the equipment are being held at Miami airport (USA), where they were connecting flights to be sent to Brazil, according to Folha de S.Paulo.
It is more than likely that China will come out of this with its economy well above what it was before, not to mention that they have already managed to destabilize inflation with sales of highly sought-after products (artificial respirators). China is also buying shares and products at low market prices.
China sold everything to the US, breaking the international contract with several countries, including Brazil. It was to be expected that the Chinese government does not respect its people, let alone the rest of the world.
