The former president of the Chamber and convicted in the second instance had been imprisoned in Rio de Janeiro since 2016.
Eduardo Cunha is hospitalized in Rio, where he underwent surgery, and will go straight home when he is released by doctors. However, one of his doctors tested positive for the new coronavirus, according to Cunha's defense, which was reported to the Federal Court of Paraná.
With few symptoms, Cunha has already taken the test. If he tests positive for the new coronavirus, he will progress to home care with the use of an electronic ankle bracelet.
“If you have contracted the coronavirus, your already precarious health situation will probably justify the need for daily monitoring of your condition, and I will not recommend your return to the prison unit until you have been completely cured, even if you can be discharged from hospital, in order to avoid contaminating other prisoners,” wrote the judge.
