The Northeast region was the preferred destination for Brazilians in 2021. A study released at the end of last week by the Hurb Agency reveals that, in terms of tourism, the country's population preferred to choose the beach.
Coastal destinations dominated the best-selling lists on the platform, which was formerly the Hotel Urbano. The preference is also helped by the exchange rate, with the dollar and euro appreciating here, in addition to the borders closed due to the pandemic.
“A major highlight that we can observe is the Northeast, which stood out compared to other options in the country, for offering many resorts, paradisiacal beaches and outdoor activities, something fundamental in this time of pandemic”, analyzes Lia Coutinho, Commercial Head of Hurb.
The list
In the ranking of best sellers on the platform, the following appear (in order):
Maceio (5%), Porto de Galinhas (5%), Maragogi (5%), Recife (4%), Natal (4%), Porto Seguro (3%), Beto Carrero World (3%), Gramado (3%), Joao Pessoa (2%) and Fernando de Noronha (2%).
Among international destinations, Cancun remains at the top of the list with 11% in total revenue. Orlando ranks second (8%), followed by Punta Cana (7%), Paris (4%), Rome (3%), Egypt (3%), Playa Del Carmen (2%), Athens and Santorini (2%), Tuscany Package (Florence, Pisa, Siena and Pienza) (2%) and Lisbon (2%).
