Caxias is located 363.7 km from the capital São Luís, on the banks of the BR-316, 65 km from the capital of Piauí, Teresina.
Caxias is celebrating the best carnival in the state of Maranhão, there are very interesting bands and cultures involving the carnival of the “Princess of the Sertão” as many call it.
The princess has around 200 thousand inhabitants, but with the festivities the city is receiving many tourists, as well as residents who are living in other cities.
The mayor of the city of Caxias, together with the culture department, has been developing sensational work in the municipality.
