The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Rodrigo Maia, made 235 trips until last Monday, December 9. All of them were on Brazilian Air Force (FAB) jets, according to the Air Force Command. The year 2019 had 244 working days until Friday (13). Excluding the 12 working days of the July parliamentary recess, Congressman Rodrigo Maia made more trips than there were working days in the year. The information is from Claudio Humberto Column, from the Power Diary.
Federal deputies only work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during the week. In other words, there were only 146 “working days” for deputies.
On Wednesday, Maia flew to Switzerland on a Brazilian Air Force jet to visit foreign authorities, some of whom are hostile to Bolsonaro. This brings his total to 236 trips.
There have only been nine public holidays this year. But MPs have already had official time off for just three weeks between July and August.
Parliamentarians also did not work for a week in November, due to the BRICS summit, held in Brasília.
