The man worked as a third-party cleaner at an Army unit in Três Corações (MG), where the president participated in an event.
A 25-year-old man was arrested in Três Corações, a city in the south of Minas Gerais, 287 km from Belo Horizonte, suspected of planning an attack on President Jair Bolsonaro. The arrest took place this Friday (29), on the same date that the head of government participated in the graduation of military personnel at an Army unit in the city.
According to the PM (Military Police), the suspect was arrested after publishing photos and videos on a social network that “compromised national security and threatened, in effect, to frustrate the ceremony”.
In one of the photos, the young man appears inside the Army barracks and says: “here begins the sequence of stories where I am infiltrated in the wolf's den, or rather, the Brazilian Army.” In another recording, the man appears filing a toothbrush and says: “preparing my knife for Bolsonaro and here was the rule of the street.”
After being arrested, PVSRFD told the police that he was in the Army unit because he occasionally works at the company that provides cleaning services for the barracks. According to the police report, the young man confirmed the posts, but claimed that they were “irony”, since he does not share the same political stance as President Bolsonaro. The detainee also emphasized that he is not part of any class entity or political group.
The suspect was taken to the Federal Police Headquarters in the neighboring city of Varginha. According to the police, two search and seizure warrants and a precautionary measure replacing arrest were also served on the matter. The investigation, which is looking into crimes against national security, remains under judicial secrecy.
When contacted, the Brazilian Army's press office said it would not comment on the case and stated that the official statement should come from the Presidency of the Republic. R7 contacted the GSI (Institutional Security Management) of the Presidency, but is awaiting a response.
