On the evening of last Sunday (24) the city of Caxias (in Maranhão) started the 3rd edition of Natal Iluminado. The festivity, which is already on the city's calendar, is already considered the largest Christmas celebration in the entire Northeast region, allowing Caxias to be recognized by many as the “Gramado of the Northeast”.
This year, the event, characterized by its special traditional Christmas stage lighting and the playful and religious spirit of Christmas, opened in front of the city's Cultural Center with the presentation of the show “The Magic of Christmas and the Lost Relics”, performed by artists from Caxias, who guided the lighting of the lights and was attended by a large audience.
After the opening, the show continued with the lighting of the giant Christmas tree in Pantheon Square (in the city center). Afterwards, the Pantheon Square, the city palace, the Cultural Center and Santa Claus' House, which ended triumphantly with a shower of artificial snow. In addition to all this, the lights of the Balaiada Viewpoint and all 75 arches that are spread out, along with the 7 Christmas trees along Alexandre Costa Avenue, Morro do Alecrim, downtown Caxias and Dom Luís Marelim Square, were turned on. Public buildings, churches and other squares in the city were also decorated and lit up in a special way.

Marked by the brightness of its striking lighting and attractions for all ages with theatrical plays and beautiful attractions, Christmas cantatas and choir performances that bring together crowds in various parts of the city, Natal Iluminado continues until the beginning of January 2020, making Caxias an important tourist hub at the time, making the city visited by tourists from all over the state, the entire region and many other places in Brazil.

Caxias seems like a great place to visit this New Year's Eve, doesn't it!?
