The Federal Police (PF) revealed on Monday (2) that they are investigating the existence of a plan that could result in a new attack on the life of President Jair Bolsonaro. According to the corporation, a man was detained and two search and seizure warrants were served in Minas Gerais due to this suspicion. The investigation is now under judicial secrecy.
The investigation began last Friday (29), after this man who is detained posted photos and videos on social media that, according to the Federal Police, reveal an “alleged plan that aimed to attack the President of the Republic Jair Messias Bolsonaro”.
At the time, Bolsonaro was on a mission in Minas Gerais. The president was attending the graduation ceremony for the Sergeants Course at the Weapons Sergeants School (ESA), in the city of Três Corações – exactly the same place where, according to the Federal Police, the man who is being held was working as a subcontractor.
Bolsonaro was greeted and surrounded by many admirers upon his arrival at ESA. He even posted a video on his social media, thanking the support he received in Minas Gerais.
According to the PF, the suspect appeared at ESA in videos that were posted on his social media. The corporation will therefore investigate whether he committed a crime against national security due to the post regarding the alleged attack against Bolsonaro. If convicted, he could receive a sentence of three to ten years in prison.
