*ERRATA: The statement in Ana Paula Henkel's tweet is a repetition of the quote from journalist Paulo Alceu. The statement was not written by the former athlete, as previously reported in this article.

This Tuesday (25), former volleyball player Ana Paula Henkel also used social media to protest against the stance of journalist Maju Coutinho, from Rede Globo.

In her post, she shared a video of presenter Paulo Alceu, from NDTV (Record's affiliate in Santa Catarina), who denied live, on Monday night (24), a fake news story against the federal government presented by Maju.

– That’s fake news. That’s not journalism. What’s happening today is an attack on journalism. Having a different opinion enriches the debate, but manipulating information means a lack of character, a lack of respect for our biggest consumer, the viewer – said Paulo Alceu in the video.

In Monday's edition, Maju spoke about an event in Brasília whose theme was the fight against the new coronavirus. During the newscast, the presenter said that neither President Jair Bolsonaro nor other authorities present paid tribute to those who died from Covid-19. However, images from the event showed that those present observed a minute of silence in reverence for the victims.

Because of the episode, social media users came together on Tuesday to criticize Coutinho. The group created the hashtag #MajuMentirosa and led to the tag becoming the most talked about topic on Twitter.

After the demonstration on social media, Maju Coutinho ended up clarifying her statements live.

– And now let me make a clarification. Yesterday, JH reported that during the event 'Brazil Overcoming Covid', neither President Jair Bolsonaro nor any government authority expressed solidarity with the victims. But a doctor from Bahia, Dr. Raíssa Soares, who is not part of the government, asked for a minute of silence. And the request was respected by everyone present, including the president. Here is the clarification – he said.
