At a party convention, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro has just confirmed that the President of the Republic and his family have a new party for 2022.
The announcement was made by Flávio Bolsonaro, who spoke on Monday morning (31) at the Patriota convention as a member of the party. He was called the “leader of the Patriota in the Senate” — he will, for now, be the only senator who is a member of the party.
In his speech, senator 'son 01' spoke of “building together the largest party in Brazil after the 2022 elections”.
“We have everything we need to do this. We just need to put our petty vanities aside, seek a solution, find a solution for everything, approve this statute that is being put to a vote now.”
The party ended up approving the new statute, which paves the way for its own candidacy for the Planalto next year.
Flávio confirmed that his father will join the party and, in light of the split in the party anticipated by O Antagonista, stated that the members of Patriota should be “celebrating, and no longer worried about taking up space”. The senator recalled that, before his father joined the PSL, the party.
“And we had a bench with 52 deputies [in 2018]. I have no doubt that we can build a party even bigger than the PSL,” added the senator.
At the end of 2017, Bolsonaro signed a membership form for the Patriota party, before sealing an alliance with the PSL, the party with which he would be elected president of the Republic the following year. In February, Adilson Barroso, president of the Patriota party, gave an interview to this website about the subject. At the time, we showed how the party was already divided on the issue.
Bolsonaro had as an interlocutor in these negotiations, in addition to Flávio, the former TSE minister Admar Gonzaga. Last Saturday, we reported that the atmosphere behind the scenes at Patriota was tense and that Adilson Barroso had scheduled a convention for today.
