A leftist YouTube channel posted a short film titled “Operação Lula Livre”, very well produced.
In the almost 14-minute film of clichés, a couple kidnaps the daughter of judge Sergio Moro, whose name is slightly changed to “Sergio Mauro”, in exchange for the release of the convicted Lula — who appears as “Luiz Jararaca da Silva”.
The hiding place where the girl is taken has a red flag on the wall, with the inscription “Lula Livre” and the face of the corrupt money launderer. Soon after taking off the victim's blindfold (called a “fucking fascist”) and seeing that the kidnapping was already on the news, one of the kidnappers tells her: “Your father's ass is going to have to give in”; “Haven’t you seen The Intercept? The way he conducted the parade?”
The girl wears Brazil's yellow shirt and is threatened all the time, including with a machete, when she tries to escape. Informed about the kidnapping, Lula tells the couple to release her. In the end, they write “Free Lula” on the girl's forehead, in a parody of what happens to Nazis in “Inglourious Basterds”, by American director Quentin Tarantino.
The channel stated the following:
“Hostage exchange was a device used by the heroes of the resistance to the dictatorship, with the purpose of rescuing democracy fighters from the cellars of repression in the 1970s. It should be no different in times of Bolsonazism, moreover when it comes to the most important political prisoner in the world , alongside Julian Assange, according to Noam Chomsky: Lula. The film Operação Lula Livre is a fabulatory lucubration regarding the progressive imminence of this historical eventuality.”
That’s right: “progressive imminence of this historical eventuality”.
After posting the short film, those responsible for the channel responded to the negative repercussion: “OPERAÇÃO LULA LIVRE is an apology for pacifism, civilization and democracy. The film criticizes, criticizes and repudiates the armed struggle, if anyone fails to understand the obvious.”
The comments area was closed because the majority “failed to understand the obvious”.
In fact, the film is yet another demonstration of the horseshoe theory about approaching extremes.
