The Government of Maranhão said in a statement that “any version that security was denied” to the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro (no party), for an alleged visit to Balsas, a city 810 kilometers from the capital of Maranhão, is a lie.
In an interview with the São Paulo broadcaster, Bolsonaro was categorical in stating that the governor refused to give up the Military Police to guarantee his passage through the city, that is, so that he could move more freely among the people. He promised, however, to come to the state on another occasion.
Bolsonaro stated that he will prepare himself so that when he visits Maranhão, he will not depend on public security in Maranhão.
Even with the cancellation, Bolsonaro will come to Maranhão, where he will visit the cities of São Luís and Imperatriz.
