Anna, 23, is under arrest and could face 21 years in prison Anna Ruzankina, a 23-year-old Russian woman, hung her three-year-old daughter Anastasia from the balcony of a building in Russia to force her to stop crying. According to local police, she slipped and died when she fell to the ground.
Witnesses said the child screamed, “Mommy, I’m scared. I’m scared, so scared,” seconds before falling 60 feet (18 meters) from the ground. Security officials said the scene was visible on CCTV footage.
After dropping the child, Anna went to retrieve the body and returned with her deceased daughter to the sixth floor of her apartment. According to the police, the woman had gone out the night before and consumed alcoholic beverages.
One of the building’s residents reported hearing “a child screaming in the nearby apartments” and “suddenly I heard a crashing sound. And the screaming stopped. When I turned around, I saw a little girl covered in blood lying on the asphalt. I ran to call emergency services. I was shocked.”
Anna is in prison and at the disposal of the courts. If convicted, she could remain in prison for up to 21 years.
