Federal deputy Elmar Nascimento, a former ally of Rodrigo Maia, has already obtained enough signatures in the bench for the DEM to close support for the bloc of the candidate for president of the House Arthur Lira, an ally of Bolsonaro.
According to Igor Gadelha, from CNN Brasil, the “support was collected electronically” but the “president of the DEM is still trying to reverse it” claiming that it will be “demoralizing” for Maia.
Maia's expectation was to hand over his seat as president of the Chamber to Baleia Rossi (MDB-SP), the candidate for whom he has been organizing a campaign, but Artur Lira has skyrocketed in his favoritism for the House.
In an interview with Congresso em Foco, this Tuesday (26), the national president of DEM, ACM Neto, said that the party will not punish deputies who support Arthur Lira (PP-AL) for president of the Chamber.
This is certainly the culmination of Rodrigo Maia's "demoralization." After "betraying" Elmar Nascimento to support Baleia Rossi's candidacy, Maia now sees the DEM party against him and embracing Arthur Lira, who has been gaining strength among the deputies.
The spell backfired on the wizard.
