A 70-year-old woman, a resident of Lapa, in the West Zone of São Paulo, defended herself after surprising a thief with two shots who was trying to break into her home. The man was hit by the shots and underwent surgery after being rescued. When she hit the target, the elderly woman said “A good bandit is a dead bandit”.
It all started when the elderly woman noticed that a stranger was trying to enter her house. The elderly woman said she was armed and asked the criminal not to try to get close to the place. Without listening, he invaded the backyard and broke the windows of the house. The woman then fired the shots in self-defense.
According to the police, the revolver used by the elderly woman was in a wardrobe and belonged to her father, who has since passed away. The weapon was seized and will undergo an expert examination.
The case was handled by the 1st Company of the 4th Battalion of the Military Police and forwarded to the 7th Police District (DP) of Lapa for investigation.
The Public Security Secretariat (SSP) reported that the case was registered as a violation of domicile and bodily harm.
