Minister Weber defeats Rodrigo Maia and maintains in-person vote for the presidency of the Chamber

Rodrigo Maia suffers yet another defeat and will not have the chance to have in its hands an 'online election' for Speaker of the House. The minister stated that it is not up to the Judiciary to resolve an internal issue of the Legislature.

The vice-president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Rosa Weber, denied, this Friday (22), a request that questioned the choice of in-person voting in the election for president of the Chamber of Deputies, which will take place on February 1. The minister's decision was a response to a request from the Democratic Labor Party (PDT), which requested a “hybrid voting system”, with the possibility of casting votes remotely.

The minister assessed that it is not up to the Judiciary to resolve an internal issue of the Legislature. The minister highlighted that the decision of the Board of Directors, taken on January 18th and which chose the in-person vote, followed the procedures provided for and said she did not see “a threat to the constitutional parameter of the right to health of parliamentarians with the material density necessary to provoke the exceptional intervention of the Judiciary in a legislative matter of its own nature”.

Rodrigo Maia dreamed of an online election and we don't know why, but we know that he was defeated and the election will be in person. What is your opinion on yet another defeat for Maia?
