Johanna Sandström/Reproduction |
When getting a tattoo, in addition to choosing a cool design, it’s a good idea to check out the tattoo artist’s recommendations, since a mistake can become a big problem. Johanna Giselhäll Sandström, 30, from Kyrkhult, Sweden, wanted to honor her children, Nova and Kevin, with a beautiful tattoo. She told a local tattoo artist their names, who took charge of creating the design. “The artist didn’t ask about spelling, so I didn’t think about it either,” she reveals.
The damage was done. After the service, Johanna realized that the tattoo artist had written “Kelvin” instead of “Kevin”. “I thought I was going to faint,” she said in an interview with the newspaper Blekinge Läns Tidning. The Swedish woman went back to the artist, who laughed at the situation and said that he could not fix the mistake, but would agree to reimburse Johanna.
After looking at prices and researching tattoo removal procedures, Johanna and her husband decided it would be easier to legally change the name of their son, who was only two years old at the time of the mistake. For Johanna, the name Kelvin is unique because “no one else has it,” and she and her husband have grown to like it more and more.
Recently, the family grew and welcomed another girl, named Freya. And Johanna is thinking about getting another tattoo, but this time she promises to be more prepared. “I’m going to write it on a piece of paper and check it 10,000 times,” she jokes.
