President Jair Bolsonaro, in an interview with Bandnews, considered the suspension of the appointment of Alexandre Ramagem to command the Federal Police (PF) to be a “brutal interference” by the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
Bolsonaro also stated that he is being “too patient and too complacent”, and that he does not want to “bang his fist on the table” or confront anyone: “don’t confront the Executive Branch”.
“First, in my opinion, it was a brutal interference by the Supreme Federal Court in the selection of the director-general [of the Federal Police]. The argument is that he was my friend. I met him after the second round of the 2018 elections. The friendship that developed there was natural. He is my bodyguard, I had to talk to him, we always had coffee with him. Now, there is a minister here, like Ramos, who I have known since 1973. Fábio Faria himself could not be appointed,” said the president.
And more:
“This was yet another brutal interference by the Supreme Federal Court in the Executive Branch. We cannot agree with this. I think I am being too patient and complacent. I do not want to bang my fist on the table and offend anyone. Now, we always ask: do not offend the Executive Branch. We do not want to measure strength with anyone. What we want is to administer and lead Brazil to a safe harbor.”
