During the police siege mounted by the coalition of security forces trying to arrest the maniac Lázaro Barbosa de Sousa, 32 years old, 10 days ago, in the region of Edilândia and Cocalzinho, in Goiás, police found along the way several rituals supposedly left by the psychopath.
Seven-day candles were found in several places in the forest, along with some offerings and even pieces of paper with the criminal's full name. Authorities suspect that the suspect himself left the candles lit to ask for spiritual protection.
Police groups conducting raids in the region found a seven-day candle near a cornfield. In one of the densely wooded areas, Goiás military personnel also found a deboned frog, left next to a machete. Part of the animal had been eaten.
Exchange of fire
The task force exchanged gunfire with the maniac on Thursday afternoon (17/6), after he was seen near his father's house. Dozens of civil and military police officers, as well as patrol cars and three helicopters were mobilized in the operation. Shortly before the confrontation, sniffer dogs found a bloody cloth, which reinforces the theory that the criminal was injured.
