“He (Bolsonaro) presides over the minority. He dates the 12% who support the dictatorship, from 12 to 20%, he dates the 10% who are racist, homophobic and sexist, he dates the 10%… he makes a set of 30% of the worst feelings of the Brazilian people. I sincerely believe that those who continue to support the government… I am convinced, and I will say something harsh. Those who continue to support the government are because they have some character flaw.”
“Let’s say that 10% are in favor of the economic agenda, 5%, Paulo (Guedes) comes from a radical liberalism that has support in Brazilian society, but the whole thing is the worst feelings of the Brazilian people. I would say that, in terms of legitimate interests, which defend weapons, I may or may not agree, the discussion exists in several places in the world. And 5 to 10% are extreme liberals and see Paulo’s government as a general privatization, the Ipiranga gas station. Now, the rest have deviations from what I understand as essential elements of democratic life. A society based on racism, sexism, persecution of minorities, hatred of indigenous people is not possible. This is the feeling that is amalgamated around the president’s platform. What I’m going to say is harsh, but it’s part of the democratic game. It’s up to the other sides to combat these agendas.”
