After being removed from the streets and having his gun license revoked by decision of the Rio de Janeiro Military Police (PMRJ) internal affairs department, Private and YouTuber Gabriel Monteiro will be reinstated to the force. The decision to remove him will be annulled. The Destaque Baixada newspaper contacted the State Government, which responded by saying that the Secretary of State for the Military Police, General Figueredo, reassessed the decision to submit Private Gabriel Luiz Monteiro de Oliveira to the Disciplinary Review Board (CRD). The annulment of the act will be published in the Corporation's Bulletin.
Understand the case. One of the reasons for his dismissal was a disturbance that occurred in April of this year at the Rio de Janeiro City Council, where an event about the Cuban Revolution was taking place. While recording one of his videos and approaching some people, Gabriel ended up being attacked by members of the event. According to him, the internal affairs department understood this as disrespect towards PM Colonel Marcos Paes, who was also present at the event. In light of the situation, the police officer made a statement on social media.
“I have not been accused of stealing, extorting, being violent, missing work to make a video, or being corrupt. These left-wing websites are outrageous. If they want to report the fact, be truthful. Fighting a system that everyone knows is retrograde and needs to change DOES NOT MAKE ME A BANDIT. Questioning mistakes does not make me an outcast. Yes, I am losing my gun license today, not for committing a crime, but for exercising my right to not accept mistakes. I will never accept any unjust aggression against women, the disabled, or activists. IT CAN COST MY UNIFORM, MY LIFE, BECAUSE THAT IS HOW I WAS TRAINED. I learned in church that loving your neighbor also means sacrificing yourself for them.” Said Gabriel.
The PM believes he is being persecuted. “The victim became the accused and the accused became the victim.” He ended by saying. He was initially placed under disciplinary misconduct. The Destaque Baixada Newspaper was unable to contact the parties to comment on the case by the time this edition went to press.
