In 2018 Barroso denounced corruption in the STF:
'There is an office distributing passwords to release corrupt people. Less than 1% of the prisoners in the system are there for corruption or white-collar crime. There is something wrong with that. And yet, in the Supreme Court, you have an office handing out passwords to release corrupt people. Without any form of law and in a kind of action between friends”, he pointed out, in an interview with the newspaper Folha de São Paulo. When asked about which offices these would be, however, Barroso changed the subject.
The CNJ is now making a joke of punishing judge Glaucenir de oliveira, simply for being critical and not agreeing with Gilmar Mendes' shortcomings.
