The president of the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro (TJ-RJ) Cláudio de Mello Tavares has just suspended the impeachment process against the suspended governor of Rio de Janeiro, Wilson Witzel.
The decision comes after STF minister Alexandre de Moraes suspended Witzel's testimony in the process.
The testimony was scheduled for December 28 and was suspended at the request of the lawyers of the suspended governor.
“The case will be suspended, the decision handed down regarding the acceptance of the complaint with the removal of the governor from office, the possibility of using the official residence and the reduction of benefits will be maintained in its entirety until the restrictions resulting from the negotiated plea bargain in the criminal action files no longer apply,” stated Tavares.
