The Amazonas government is the target of a PF operation to divert resources to combat the pandemic.
According to the investigation, there is evidence that high-ranking officials in Wilson Lima's administration carried out fraudulent hiring to favor a group of local businessmen.
The Federal Public Ministry reports that it detected “serious flaws” at the Nilton Lins Field Hospital – contracted by the Amazonas government to reinforce care for Covid patients during the state’s health crisis.
The MPF report was used by Superior Court of Justice (STJ) Minister Francisco Falcão to authorize the Federal Police operation that arrested Amazonas Health Secretary Marcellus Campelo this Wednesday (2). The PF is investigating alleged irregularities in the construction of the Nilton Lins field hospital.
The son of businessman Nilton Lins, one of those investigated in the fourth phase of Operation Sangria, received Federal Police agents with gunfire while serving court orders. The information was confirmed by Deputy Attorney General Lindôra Araújo, of the Superior Court of Justice, in a court session.
Nilton Lins, owner of the Nilton Lins field hospital leased to the Government of Amazonas, is sheltering in the Swedish Embassy in the state of Amazonas.
The action was launched by the PF on the morning of this Wednesday (2) and investigates the favoritism of local businessmen in hiring for the field hospital.
The Operation arrested the Secretary of Health of Amazonas, Marcellus Campelo, and carried out searches at the residence and office of the state governor, Wilson Lima.
